1. General German

Teaching available all year round anytime between 9 AM and 10 PM Berlin time, also on weekends. Weekend surcharge 25%. 

If you want to learn German online, we classes either one-to-one or in a private mini-group. A private mini-group is a group you put together - with friends or fellow students (max. 6 per group). Share fun and split costs! All you need is a laptop. We teach via Skype, Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

2. Preparation courses for certificates (telc & Goethe):

Both the Goethe Institut and telc issue certificates for young learners of German. The test formats are not identical, but very similar. We will prepare you for both test formats - in such a way that you can acquire either certificate, Goethe or telc, on levels A1, A2, B1. 

Trust our expertise: GLS is an official test center for all telc German certificates from A1 (beginners) to C2 (advanced), and for many years we have have been preparing students for Goethe exams.

The A1 certificates for children and teenagers

The exams can't yet be taken online, but you can take it at a Goethe Institut or telc examination center near you. The test fee is not included in the course price and to be paid directly to the test center.

The online prep course

  • Start: Anytime
  • Workload: we recommend 10 online teaching units per week, split in 2 - 5 sessions
  • Live online teaching with immediate feedback and corrections plus homework for self study inbetween sessions
  • Content: training the skills you need to perform well in all four sections of an A1 exam (speaking, listening, reading, writing); simulating exam situations, rehearsing the exam several times
  • Duration: depending on your current level. If you are already on examination level, 5 teaching units may suffice to familiarize you with the testing format. If you are a complete beginner, however, you may need up to 160 teaching units befor you can sit the A1 exam (read more here). 
  • Group size: One-to-one or private mini-group 
  • Free placement test
  • Teaching materials

If you already speak a little German (enough to get along in everyday situations), you can take either the telc A2 exam or the Goethe A2 exam. Both certify that you speak German on elementary level, i.e. the second on the six-level scale of competence defined by the EU.

The A2 certificates for young learners

The exams can't yet be taken online, but you can take it at a Goethe Institut or telc examination center near you. The test fee is not included in the course price and to be paid directly to the test center.

B1 is the level some German universities of art or music accept as proof of sufficient German. With a B1 certificate you show that you speak German quite well - B1 is the third on the six-level scale of competence defined by the EU.  And there are 2 certificates to choose from: telc B1 & Goethe B1.

How do online classes work?

Very simple: You'll get an email with a link to ZOOM, one click and you are right there. All you need is a laptop or a smartphone, ideally with a headset.
